These rugs are made in workshops in the city of Tabriz, northwestern Iran. A strong and durable carpet with a short, rough pile. The decoration may consist of a central medallion surrounded by arabesques, weeping willows and cypresses. Another popular motif is the four seasons, which describe the life of the Persian peasant during spring, summer, autumn and winter.
